Ricable Hi-End Power (1m) Power Cable

270,00 €

Ricable Hi-End Power (1m) is a power cable for audio equipment with a compatible IEC inlet. It uses 6 mm² AM-RCC pure OFC copper conductors, an outer tinned-copper shield and internal Mylar and aluminium shielding. The cable has a 16 A Schuko plug and a 10 A IEC connector, so the equipment connection and its electrical requirements must be checked before purchase.

Description

Ricable Hi-End Power (1m) is a 1 m power cable for audio equipment. It connects a compatible IEC power inlet to a Schuko mains socket. The cable uses 6 mm² AM-RCC copper conductors, dual shielding and gold-plated contacts. Before choosing it, check the shape of your equipment’s IEC inlet and the permitted current rating.

Conductors and shielding

The conductors are made from 99.9999% pure N7 OFC copper. Each individual wire forming the conductors has a diameter of 0.15 mm. The conductors are twisted together and with the insulation. This geometry is designed to keep the conductors neatly positioned throughout the cable.

The outer shield consists of a tinned OFC copper braid. Mylar and aluminium layers are used internally. Together, these shields help limit the effects of surrounding electromagnetic interference. A cotton cord is also incorporated into the dielectric insulation.

Connectors and compatibility

One end of the cable is fitted with a Japanese-made 16 A Schuko plug. The other end has a Japanese-made 10 A IEC connector. Because the connector ratings differ, the cable must not be selected solely on the basis of the 16 A marking on the Schuko plug.

The contacts are plated with 24-carat gold, while the connector housings are made from non-magnetic aluminium. Before connecting the cable, make sure that the IEC inlet on your equipment matches its connector. This cable should not be regarded as universally compatible with every type of IEC inlet.

Routing the cable around your equipment

Its 17 mm outer diameter means that sufficient space should be left behind the equipment. Avoid bending the cable sharply where it meets the connector housings. When deciding whether the one-metre length is suitable, measure the actual route to the socket and take the depth of the equipment into account.

The outer jacket is made from highly flexible PVC and reinforced with a nylon braid. This makes the cable easier to route in confined spaces, but the connectors should not be placed under tension. Ideally, arrange the cable so that its weight does not pull the IEC connector downwards.

Construction and manufacture

The cable is treated using the R-Electron system. It was designed in Italy and is handmade in Italy. Its specified conductor resistance is less than 3.5 ohms per kilometre. This figure describes the electrical resistance of the conductor; it is not a rating for the power of the connected equipment.

FAQ

Will this cable fit my amplifier or player?

Your equipment must have a power inlet that matches the cable’s IEC connector. You must also take the 10 A rating of the IEC connector into account.

Which connector goes into the audio equipment?

The IEC connector is intended for a compatible power inlet on the equipment. The Schuko plug connects to a corresponding mains socket or a suitable power distribution unit.

What do the different 10 A and 16 A connector ratings mean?

The Schuko plug is rated at 16 A, while the IEC connector is rated at 10 A. Connection suitability must not be assessed using only the higher Schuko rating.

How can I tell whether the one-metre length will be enough?

Measure the complete route from the equipment’s IEC inlet to the mains socket. Allow some slack for a natural bend and make sure that neither connector is placed under tension.

Can this thick cable be routed behind furniture?

Yes, provided there is enough room for the 17 mm-diameter cable and its connectors. Avoid sharp bends and do not trap or compress the cable against the edge of the furniture.
