The Pioneer DEH-X6800DAB is a 1-DIN car stereo for CDs, wired audio sources and digital radio. It plays music files from CDs and USB storage, while DAB+ provides access to digital radio stations. The Pioneer DEH-X6800DAB car stereo is a 1-DIN in-car CD receiver with DAB/DAB+ digital radio, RDS FM/AM radio, and front USB and AUX inputs. Its built-in MOSFET amplifier has a maximum output rating of 50 W × 4; this figure does not represent continuous RMS power. The unit has a non-touch VA LCD display.
Music and radio sources
The CD mechanism plays CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs, including MP3, WMA and AAC files. Playback features include random play, last-position memory, CD Text and MP3 text display, making it easier to identify and resume recorded music.
The single front USB input supports MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC files, while the front AUX input accepts an analogue audio signal. The music browser and MIXTRAX EZ are complemented by illumination effects, Digital Direct and Advanced Sound Retriever.
Direct iPod and iPhone control, App Mode and Android Media Access are included. Compatibility with current phones, operating systems and applications has not been confirmed. This model does not have Bluetooth.
Using digital radio
DAB+ reception requires the optional Pioneer CA-AN-DAB.001 antenna, which is not listed as part of the standard package. Automatic DAB tuning is accompanied by a time-shift function. The retailer’s specification also identifies this model as carrying the Digital Radio Tick Mark.
The RDS FM/AM tuner provides 24 station presets. BSM automatically stores the stations with the strongest reception. Automatic and manual frequency tuning, traffic announcements, alternative-frequency search and PTY search are also available.
Sound adjustment
The 5-band graphic equalizer is supported by source-level adjustment, subwoofer control, a high-pass filter (HPF) and a low-pass filter (LPF). Two pairs of RCA pre-outs can be configured for front channels, rear channels or a subwoofer, so the selected assignment determines which channel arrangement can be used at one time. Direct Sub Drive is also provided.
Installation and operation
The chassis is designed for a universal 1-DIN installation slot. Before installation, check the vehicle’s dashboard opening, wiring, radio-antenna connection and the intended position of the DAB antenna. A protective case is specified for the fully detachable front panel. There is also an input for a hard-wired remote control, although a remote handset is not listed as included.
Multicolour illumination offers separate zone adjustment with a choice of 210,000 RGB colours. The unit also provides illumination effects, an illumination line, a timer and ten brightness steps. Its wide-viewing-angle, 1.5-line dot-matrix VA LCD can display Cyrillic characters. Support for a multi-function vehicle display interface is specified as well.
