Magnat Omega CS 12 Active Subwoofer

Magnat Omega CS 12 is an active, sealed, front-firing subwoofer for a home audio system. It combines a single 30 cm long-throw woofer with a Class D amplifier. The amplifier is rated at 525 watts RMS, with a peak output of 1100 watts.

Sealed cabinet design

The sealed cabinet has no bass reflex port, eliminating the airflow noise associated with a ported design. Its front-firing driver also provides greater freedom when choosing a position near a wall or furniture. The final placement should be selected by listening from the main seating position.

The woofer features an advanced magnet system and a reinforced cone. Its wide, stitched surround is designed to accommodate extensive cone movement. The ventilated voice coil uses an aluminium support.

Amplification and digital control

As this is an active design, the woofer does not require a separate power amplifier. The subwoofer receives the audio signal from the system, while its internal amplifier supplies power to the 30 cm driver.

The low-pass filter frequency can be adjusted from 50 to 150 Hz. Begin with a setting based on the lower frequency limit reproduced by the main speakers. Then listen carefully and refine the transition between the main speakers and the subwoofer.

Setting the filter too high can make the subwoofer’s position overly apparent. Setting it too low can leave an audible gap between the frequency ranges. The adjustable gain level allows the bass output to be balanced with the main speakers.

Phase is continuously adjustable from 0° to 180°. Make adjustments while playing the same recording and listening from your usual seating position. Keep the setting at which the bass blends most naturally with the sound from the main speakers.

Adjustable bass extension provides another way to tailor reproduction to the system and room. Volume can be changed with the supplied remote control. The front display shows the volume level and selected settings.

Placement and dimensions

The cabinet depth without the amplifier is 450 mm, while the total depth is 465 mm. When planning installation on a shelf or in a recess, use the overall measurement. Its 24 kg weight and ESD isolation feet help the subwoofer stand securely.
