For horizontal placement, attach the included feet to the four corners of the appropriate side of the enclosure. They provide the intended support and prevent the cabinet from resting directly on the surface below it.

A position near the front of the system is a practical starting point. Compare several locations, however, because walls and room corners can reinforce particular low frequencies.

Choose the final position while listening from your normal seat. At the same time, consider the strength of the network signal and the distance to the nearest wall outlet.

Expanding the system

According to the retailer, adding the DSW-1H to the DHT-S716H creates a 3.1-channel system. Low-frequency effects are then reproduced by a separate subwoofer while the main system handles the other channels.

The retailer also states that the setup can later be expanded with two compatible HEOS speakers to form a 5.1-channel system. The DSW-1H supplies the bass in this arrangement, but it does not reproduce the rear surround channels itself.

When used with a Denon Home speaker, the subwoofer extends low-frequency reproduction through the same HEOS network. This is useful when the existing speaker lacks weight at the lowest end of the frequency range.
