The Pioneer AVH-X7800BT is a 1-DIN multimedia receiver for vehicles that need a large control display. Its fold-out 7-inch WVGA screen provides access to CD, DVD, USB, radio and Bluetooth sources. Pioneer AVH-X7800BT multimedia receiver – a 1-DIN in-car audio and video centre. This multimedia receiver combines a compact 1-DIN chassis with a fold-out 7-inch touchscreen. It plays CDs and DVDs and receives FM and AM radio stations. Integrated Bluetooth supports hands-free calling and wireless music streaming.
The built-in MOSFET amplifier has a stated maximum output of 50 W × 4. This is a maximum rather than a continuous power rating. Three pairs of 4 V RCA pre-outs allow separate amplifiers to be connected for the front and rear channels, with a dedicated output provided for a subwoofer.
Fold-out display and controls
The 7-inch WVGA touchscreen folds out from the 1-DIN chassis. This design provides a large control surface without requiring a 2-DIN installation space. The display has a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
The Clear Type display has an anti-glare surface, and selectable widescreen viewing modes are available. Automatic brightness and backlight adjustment adapt the picture to the surrounding light. When installing the receiver, sufficient clearance must be left in front of the dashboard so that the screen can open properly.
The front panel is partially detachable. The RGB button illumination offers a choice of 210,000 colours, making it possible to coordinate the controls with the vehicle’s dashboard lighting. A multicolour illumination mode is also supported.
Audio sources and file playback
The integrated disc mechanism plays CDs and region 2 DVDs. MP3, WMA and AAC audio files are supported from CD or DVD media. Compatible video formats on discs include DivX, Xvid, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.
The rear USB port supplies up to 1 A. It can play MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV and FLAC audio files from USB storage. Supported USB video formats include DivX, Xvid, H.264 and MPEG-4, while JPEG photographs can also be displayed.
The rear AUX input can be used with a source that has an analogue audio output. The FM and AM tuner supports RDS, allowing information transmitted by a radio station to be shown when the station provides it.
Phone connectivity and early-generation app functions
Integrated Bluetooth supports the HFP, A2DP and SPP profiles. Two phones can be connected at the same time. Automatic phonebook transfer accommodates five sets, each containing up to 1,000 contacts. Simple Secure Pairing is provided to make the initial pairing process easier.
This model was designed to provide direct control of compatible iPod and iPhone devices. It was also supplied with App Mode, AppRadio Mode and functions for Android phones. These features depend on the connection method, phone, operating system and apps available at the time. Compatibility with present-day devices and services has not been established.
Video connections and cameras
Two video inputs use RCA or mini-jack AV connections. A dedicated input is provided for a reversing camera, and the display can switch automatically to its picture. Another input is available for a second camera.
A rear video output can send a video signal to an additional display in the vehicle. PAL, NTSC and SECAM video standards are supported. One RGB input is included for compatible optional equipment that supplies the corresponding signal.
MFD multifunction vehicle-display support is listed, but specific vehicle models and any required adapters are not defined. A wired remote-control input allows a suitable control adapter to be connected. The main vehicle wiring connection uses an ISO connector.
Audio-system adjustment
The 13-band graphic equaliser allows individual frequency ranges to be adjusted. It is best to begin from a neutral setting and then change only the areas that are clearly too prominent or too weak. Source-level adjustment helps balance the volume between different sources.
The high-pass filter reduces the low-frequency load placed on the main speakers. It is particularly useful when the system includes a separately amplified subwoofer. Time alignment compensates for the different distances between the driver and the vehicle’s speakers.
Auto EQ is intended for automatic system measurement with the optional CZX-5497A microphone. This microphone is not included. The Loudness function emphasises the frequency extremes when listening at lower volume levels. Advanced Sound Retriever processes compressed audio files and Bluetooth audio streams.
Two-way network mode provides frequency-band control for an actively divided audio system. It must be selected according to the actual speaker and amplifier wiring arrangement. MIXTRAX and MIXTRAX EZ are intended to provide music transitions and organised playback sequences.
Navigation and optional accessories
Navigation requires the separately available Pioneer AVIC-F260 module. Navigation is not built into the receiver itself. Its practical use depends on the condition and availability of the module’s maps and software.
The CA-IU.52C USB-to-Lightning cable, ND-BC8 reversing camera and CD-R33 remote control are optional accessories. One USB extension cable and an external Bluetooth microphone are included. Cameras, the navigation module and the Auto EQ microphone are not supplied.

FAQ
Who is this receiver intended for?
It is intended for a vehicle with a 1-DIN installation space and enough clearance for the fold-out display. It is not a home stereo or home-cinema component.
Can an external car amplifier be connected?
Yes. Three pairs of 4 V RCA pre-outs carry the front, rear and subwoofer-channel signals separately. This makes it possible to build an in-car system using multiple amplifiers.
Does navigation work without additional equipment?
No. Navigation requires the optional AVIC-F260 module. The condition of its software and maps must be assessed separately.
Can two cameras be used?
Yes. Inputs are provided for a reversing camera and a second camera. The cameras themselves are not included. The ND-BC8 reversing camera was offered as an optional accessory.
Will the receiver work with a current phone?
Compatibility with current phones has not been confirmed. Before purchasing, HFP and A2DP operation should be checked separately, and the older AppRadio, iPod, iPhone and Android functions should not be treated as guaranteed.
How should I begin adjusting the sound?
Start with the equaliser set to neutral and balance the source levels. Then configure the time alignment and filter settings to suit the speakers installed in the vehicle.
Is the Auto EQ microphone included?
No. The CZX-5497A microphone used for Auto EQ measurement is an optional accessory. The included external microphone is intended for Bluetooth calls, not automatic audio measurement.
