JL Audio RBC-1 is a remote bass control for the JL Audio car amplifiers listed below. It puts an adjustment within reach at the front of the car, but the function of its rotary knob depends on the connected amplifier. With some models, the knob changes the amplifier’s overall level. With others, it controls bass equalizer boost. Check that distinction before choosing the control and setting up your system.
Two ways to control bass
With the listed JX and RD amplifiers, the RBC-1 controls bass level. It serves the same purpose with the listed HX, MHX and MX models when they operate in low-pass filter mode. In this group, the control reduces the amplifier’s input gain, allowing you to adjust its overall level from the front of the car. The knob gives you access to that adjustment without having to reach the amplifier.
Its role is different with the listed Slash and M models, and with the G, A and e series amplifiers. Here, the RBC-1 adjusts bass equalizer boost. Once the remote control is connected, the boost control on the amplifier is no longer the active control: the RBC-1 takes over that setting. Knowing which function applies to your amplifier helps you understand what will change when you turn the knob.
Choose by amplifier model
Start by checking your amplifier’s complete model designation, including its numbers and any version suffix. The original Slash series, Slash v2 and Slash v3 are listed separately in the specifications. A series name alone may therefore be insufficient to identify the applicable entry. Read the full designation on your amplifier and compare it with the table before selecting the RBC-1.
The amplifier’s operating mode also matters for HX300/1, MHX300/1, MX300/1 and MX500/1. The RBC-1 controls their bass level when they are in low-pass filter mode. If you have one of these four models, account for that mode requirement when setting up the amplifier. An alternative M-RBC-1 control is also specified for them. M-RBC-1 is a separate product, not an item included in this RBC-1 package.
Placing the control in your car
The package contains a rotary control with a black ABS plastic knob, mounting hardware and one 5.5 m cable. Consider the cable length as you plan a route from the amplifier to your chosen position at the front of the car. Choosing the position before mounting also lets you check that the knob will be comfortable to reach. The included hardware is provided for mounting the rotary control.
The black ABS knob is the one supplied with the RBC-1. If you prefer a different appearance, a satin-finish aluminum knob is available separately. This is a knob option, not another control function. Whether the RBC-1 adjusts overall level or bass equalizer boost continues to depend on the amplifier connected to it.

Will this control work with every JL Audio amplifier?
The RBC-1 is intended for the models and series listed in the table. Check the amplifier’s full model designation when choosing it. A version suffix can matter, particularly where different versions of a series have separate entries.
Will connecting the control increase my amplifier’s power?
For amplifiers listed under level control, the RBC-1 reduces input gain so that you can adjust the overall level. It is not an additional amplifier power setting. For models listed under equalizer boost, its function is the boost adjustment described above.
