EIJI OUE & MINNESOTA ORCHESTRA – AARON COPLAND: FANFARE FOR THE COMMON MAN & THIRD SYMPHONY

Reference Recordings celebrated American composer Aaron Copland’s 100th birthday with this recording in 2000. Two of his best-known and most memorable works have been brought together on one album for this LP. The fanfare „For The Common Man” has become an integral part of major sporting events. Her majestic brass and drum parts produce goosebumps wherever you hear them. The Third Symphony is considered Copland’s masterpiece, the finest symphony written by an American in the 20th century. Its finale, scored for a full symphony orchestra, sends shivers down your spine. Music lovers will have no trouble recognizing how Copland incorporated elements of his then-unpublished Fanfare into the Symphony’s finale.

The LPs were half-speed mastered in Pacifica at Reference Recordings by Paul Stubblebine.

180 gram or 200 gram pressing – not an easy question

With identical Reference Recordings titles, there are covers labeled 180 g that contain LPs that weigh around 200 g and vice versa. This is due to the fact that the commissioned pressing plants QRT and RTI in the USA specify a 10 percent tolerance on the weight and then occasionally get the orders mixed up. The pressings do not differ in terms of sound. Please: Do not call Sieveking Sound to have someone go out and unpack and weigh an LP especially for you!
