Focal SUB 25A4<\/strong> is a passive 10-inch car subwoofer designed for a separately assembled in-car bass system. Its 200 W RMS<\/strong> nominal power rating provides the main reference point when choosing a suitable external amplifier.<\/p>\n

This is an individual driver, not an active subwoofer. It requires a properly designed enclosure, a power amplifier and suitable frequency filtering.<\/p>\n

Who is this subwoofer for?<\/h2>\n

This model is suitable for a car audio system in which a dedicated driver handles the low-frequency range. It can complement either front or rear speakers.<\/p>\n

The 10-inch<\/strong> format makes it possible to plan a more compact system than one based on a larger-diameter driver. However, 250 mm is the nominal diameter of the subwoofer. It is not the diameter of the required mounting cut-out.<\/p>\n

Enclosure and mounting position<\/h2>\n

A sealed or bass-reflex enclosure cannot be selected solely from the driver\u2019s 250 mm nominal diameter. Both enclosure type and internal volume affect the character of the bass and the load placed on the subwoofer.<\/p>\n

The enclosure must be secured firmly inside the vehicle. Its position in the luggage compartment changes how it interacts with the surfaces of the cabin. The final orientation is best selected by comparing several positions while keeping the enclosure safely secured.<\/p>\n

Leave sufficient room around the installation for the magnet, wiring and cone movement. A protective grille can be useful when the subwoofer is installed in a load-carrying area, but it must not touch any moving part of the driver.<\/p>\n

Integrating the subwoofer into the system<\/h2>\n

In a car stereo system, this subwoofer can take responsibility for the lowest frequency range. This allows the main speakers to be filtered so that they do not have to reproduce frequencies that are too low for them. FAQ<\/h2>\n

Is this a complete subwoofer enclosure?<\/h3>\n

No. It is an individual passive driver supplied without an enclosure or built-in amplifier. A complete system requires a suitable enclosure, an external amplifier and appropriate frequency filtering.<\/p>\n

How should I choose the amplifier power?<\/h3>\n

Use the nominal RMS power rating as your guide rather than the maximum-power figure. The amplifier must also operate reliably with the actual load presented by the subwoofer.<\/p>\n

Can the impedance be determined from the A4 designation?<\/h3>\n

The model suffix alone is not enough to establish the impedance. Without knowing the nominal impedance, it is not possible to make a sound decision about the final wiring arrangement or amplifier load.<\/p>\n
