What does the converter change?<\/h2>\n

The converter changes the angle of view of an HC or HCD lens you already own. It is useful when you want to include more of a scene without switching to a different lens model. The shorter focal length and wider maximum aperture come together, so it helps to consider both changes in relation to the particular lens you plan to use. The resulting view depends on that lens: the converter does not give every HC or HCD lens the same field of view.<\/p>\n

Autofocus depends on the lens firmware. For HC and HCD lenses that already have firmware version 18.0.0 or later, version 19.1.0 is required<\/strong> for use with the converter and for autofocus. If you normally rely on autofocus, checking the lens version is an essential part of choosing this converter for your setup. The change in angle of view alone does not tell you how the lens will focus when the converter is attached.<\/p>\n

Lenses with firmware earlier than 18.0.0 can be used only with manual focus<\/strong>. Their hardware does not allow an update to version 19.1.0, so updating the camera will not make autofocus available on one of these older lenses. It is intended for HC and HCD lenses used with compatible X System or 907X cameras. Check your lens firmware before choosing it. A lens that already has version 18.0.0 or later needs version 19.1.0 for use with the converter and autofocus. A lens with firmware earlier than 18.0.0 is limited to manual focus.
